because connecting with peers is just as important for new parents, as it is for babies

learn & play with your baby and your friends

Proactive Parenting Playgroups begin Sept 10 ages 0-6 months & 6-12 months

Starting a family is an exciting, precious time. It can also be trying and challenging in ways that we don’t often like to admit. While parenting involves intuition and instinct, learned skills are an essential ingredient to your enjoyment of these precious times.

Additionally, learning how your baby’s brain and muscles develop will help when choosing ways to interact, toys and clothing that will support your child’s emotional and intellectual growth.

Proactive Parenting Playgroup is a resource for helping you and your child with this exciting time. Through a series of weekly topics we will explore current areas of your child’s development and strategies on how to prepare yourself, your child and your home for the exciting times to come.
Topics to include:
• Supporting healthy sleep habits
• Introducing a variety of solid foods
• Communicating and collaborating with your nonverbal child
• Safety in the home (AKA Baby-proofing)
• What to look for when selecting toys and products
• Any other questions and issues you may be working with
This playgroup meets twice per week. Fridays are guided conversations with both parents encouraged to attend. Mondays provide an additional opportunity to connect with the parents of children your same age for community building.
Two series are offered based on your child’s age.
Birth- Six months meet 3:00-4:00 Friday and Monday, September 10 (8 wks)
Six months – 12 months meet 4:30-5:30 Friday and Monday, Sept. 10 (8wks)

Free, imaginative play is crucial for normal social, emotional and cognitive development.
It makes us better adjusted, smarter and less stressed, too. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=19212514
